Hon. Michelle Ialeggio
Hon. Michelle Ialeggio is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego, County in California. She was elected to the bench in March of 2020 and took office on January 5, 2021, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Harry Elias. Ialeggio earned a B.A. from the University of Southern California in 2001. She then continued her studies, receiving a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2004.
Ialeggio began her legal career as a San Diego Deputy District Attorney in 2005. She was a trial attorney, where she tried in excess of 75 jury trials and rose to become a supervisor and ethics advisor for the entire San Diego District Attorney’s office. Ialeggio focused much of her legal career prosecuting crimes of domestic violence, family and child abuse. In 2015, she received the San Diego County Bar Association’s “Service by a Public Attorney” award for her contributions to the San Diego community.
Ialeggio previously served as a board member for Lawyers Club of San Diego, California Women Lawyers, and the San Diego County Catholic Diocesan Review Board. Since 2018 she has been an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law. Ialeggio is married with two small children and an avid runner.
